Our family met Dave Sherman by the grace of God. We are so thankful to the Lord for appointing our relationship! Once our family was called to serve with Engineering Ministries International in the Uganda, Africa office, we began what we called “support raising.” However, after just one conversation with Dave, our minds and hearts were renewed to a biblical understanding of stewardship and partnership development. As well, Dave equipped us with the tools needed to share effectively and efficiently. We had never really been concerned or overwhelmed with the idea to “raise support,” but we then became excited for the opportunity and looking forward to sharing what God was doing in our lives with all of our friends, family, and even strangers! We had a new outlook to disciple and lead others into God’s will for their lives. What an honor! Our funding was completed with ease and trust in the Lord. Praise be to God – our family of five was fully funded in 6 months!

I can’t think of many things more awkward than asking people for money. My wife and I prepared for the mission field for over five years, attending multiple schools, starting careers, and serving in our church. After all that it came time to develop partners and purchase tickets. Stewardship Ambassadors training completely changed our perspective on “fundraising.” Instead of awkwardly asking for money Dave helped us see each partnership meeting as a ministry opportunity. Each meeting is a chance to encourage people in their walk with the Lord and give people the opportunity to join what God is doing among the unreached around the world. Because of Dave’s coaching, we entered each meeting knowing what to say and feeling confident in the importance of our content. This made our meetings comfortable and actually fun! After seven months of meetings, we had monthly partnerships totaling $8900 in addition to over $50,000 of special gifts to help with our launch. Beyond the financial support, we were able to explain our ministry plans and God’s vision for reaching the unreached to almost every family in our church and many of our family and friends. Partnership development can feel long but Dave helped us see the amazing opportunity we have to impact so many people right in their own homes!

Dave has just the right mixture of disarming humor, Biblical perspective, savvy experience, and bold faith. We didn’t adopt his “methods” easily, well… because we are a little thick headed. Just 10 months ago we had our first meeting with you to begin our partnership development. And here we are, our partnership team complete and ready for our protected country.! What an amazing time of ministry it has been already! Like you said, we did more than raise money. We built relationships, we watched as God grew people’s faith through the telling of our story, and we were completely humbled as people stepped out in faith to be a part of what God has called us all to. We owe so much of this amazing experience to you. You helped us get the money we needed to go, there is no doubt about that. But you did so much more. You helped us see the bigger picture and importance of doing this ministry first, before we ever get to the field. This past weekend at Partnership Development, I can say with honesty that my understanding and confidence of the process of building a partnership team grew more than I could have imagined. Dave Sherman’s expertise is made evident and his presentation is clear. There was definitely a lot to learn, but Dave was both motivating and encouraging.
